Data broadcasting
is a broadband data transmission system based on TV or satellite
network. There are essentially three different data broadcasting
methods, namely VBI, DVB and DAMB:
VBI, abbreviation of vertical blank interval, uses
the available TV network to transmit digital information. The
rate in one TV channel could reach 180 Kbps. Now, it has widely
used in real time stock trading information and public multimedia
information.
DVB, abbreviation of digital video broadcasting, can
be classed into three types, namely DVB-S, DVB-C, DVB-T, according
to transmission media. The transmission rate will reach 56-90Mbps.
It is mainly used for digital video and audio broadcasting, broadband
IP data broadcasting and long-distance learning.
DAMB is the abbreviation of digital audio multimedia
broadcasting. A successful and ideal example is WorldSpace satellite
system. It allows anyone within its coverage to receive satellite
audio and multimedia broadcasts directly. Only a small portable
receiver and a 10-cm-wide satellite antenna is required.
